So, I really shouldn't buy RPG books when I have stuff to do but, since I'm not really great at listening to the little voice that tells me this stuff, I am now the possibly proud owner of GURPS Discworld and a sudden attack of plot ideas that won't go away. Also, reading linguistics textbooks is entirely failing to help with this issue. So, I think that an attempt at a one-shot game is in order, possibly with expansion if people are still interested. Working title is "The Inadvisability of the Application of Optimality Theory to Temporal Manipulation or, Why Narrative Causality Doesn't Always Get Along with Scientific Theory".
There will be monks and procrastinators of more than one sort involved. Also maybe a shorter game title. I suspect that this is not going to be so good for getting stuff done since I may also be running some short (strangely enough Discworld inspired) Changeling games but, on the other hand, short games look like they should be much more manageable than a long-term campaign. (also the plots are not going away). Happily, I think I've finally got a format that works for games with limited time. Not going to do a bit huge single plot but rather a bunch of smaller stories revolving around a central driving element.
Now, back to writing a paper that's due tomorrow (but only 2-3 pages and I'm allowed to talk about linguistics). Then, blanched asparagus with roasted red pepper and garlic sauce with a bit of lamb-basil sausage. Has been a strangely busy weekend.
